From: dijjer@freshmeat.net Date: Sun, 12 Dec 2004 21:05:39 +0000 (UTC) Newsgroups: fm.announce Dijjer 0018 by Ian Clarke (http://freshmeat.net/~sanity/) About: Dijjer is a peer-to-peer HTTP cache, designed to allow the distribution of large files from Web servers while virtually eliminating the bandwidth cost to the file's publisher. Dijjer is designed to be simple, elegant, and to cleanly integrate with existing applications where possible. Dijjer uses "UDP hole punching" to allow it to operate from behind firewalls without any need for manual reconfiguration. Dijjer's distributed and scalable content distribution algorithm is inspired by Freenet. Changes: Primary change is the addition of flow control which will dynamically adjust bandwidth usage according to network conditions. Will now correctly detect and alert the user if a web server cannot support Dijjer downloads. Also a number of bugfixes and code cleanups. Release focus: Major feature enhancements License: GNU General Public License (GPL) Project URL: http://freshmeat.net/projects/dijjer/ Homepage: http://freshmeat.net/redir/dijjer/54629/url_homepage/dijjer.org
