Notes for concept release 0.0:
- Note that this is a concept only - it is not a beta
or a finished product, it is not even an alpha release!
- Any current versions of the application are for Win32 only.
- Download, then run the executable file to unzip the contents
to the folder where you wish to run the application. It is sincerely recommended
that you habitually check any downloads you make from the internet for virus
infection and tampering.
- Once unzipped, the "installation" is done. There is no
installation program - if any components are missing, the program will not
run. The archive contains only 2 files; the executable (A1.exe) and a MAP
file (A1.map), which can be used to trace errors in the program (it is safe
to delete this file, it will not affect the application). If you have
a debug version of the application, the filenames will be A1D.exe and A1D.map
instead. This does not affect program operation except that you will need
to make sure you don't accidentally have both A1 and A1D and by mistake run
the wrong application version. Debug versions are noticeably slower
than normal release binaries - there is no benefit to be gained for end users
by running debug binaries. Normally the debug binaries will not be distributed.
[The list of dependencies is: MFC42.DLL, MSVCRT.DLL,
MSVCP60.DLL - no other dependencies should hinder the application from running
on a recent version of a Microsoft Windows/Windows NT platform]
- While every effort to make the application safe and
well behaved has been made, there are NO GUARANTEES OR WARRANTIES of any
sort, expressed or implied. Use at your own risk.
- Unless you are involved in the development of A1 it
is sincerely recommended that you do not attempt to use this concept release.
It is not a useful application at this time (it does not even save or load
documents, and can only display a few basic graphic symbols. There are several
crash bugs as well).
- The lack of installation support means that the application
will leave garbage in your registry if you remove it. There is no uninstall
support. If you do not like this, do not download, install or run the application.
Some registry information can be cleaned out by - before removing the executable
- running A1.exe with the command switch "-unregister". (Open a command
prompt, "CD" to the folder where the executable Modeller.exe is, and type
"A1.exe -unregister")
-

is no current version. Download mirrors will appear when a public release
is made.
